Team Development day with Bath RUH Nurses

Today we've been out working with Active Adventure South West delivering a team development day for the nurses at Bath RUH.

The morning session was made up of various challenges to test team skills like communication, trust, planning and resourcefulness. Some of these challenges were very active and some much more sedate like completing a Quiz! All the challenges completed gave the teams points to take into the afternoon session.

Raft Building and then racing them was on the cards for the afternoon. Three different kits were available from the deluxedown to the barely adequate! The team with the most points earned the deluxe kit!

All the participants had a great time and the main emphasis of FUN was achieved. Even the weather was nice to us and sun cream needed to be applied!

Its great to be able to work in conjunction with other providers and bring more experience to the sessions.

If your company or department needs a boost of fun or some constructive team development then please feel free to get in touch.

Climbing Wall Leaders Award Training with Mark Garland

Today I travelled to The Mill climbing centre run by Rock and Rapid Adventures to attend a Climbing Wall Leaders Award training course with Mark Garland. This courses is a step on from Climbing wall leader and SPA from the same awarding body, Mountain Training.

The course looks at teaching lead climbing in the indoor wall environment and coaching techniques.

Great course run in a professional but relaxed manner by Mark. I'm now inspired to get the hours done to move forward to assessment.

An Evening with Ben Rockett - Charity Event

As part of my charity fund raising this year for Children's Hospice South West and Roundabout I am organising the event shown above.

Ben Rockett is a Taunton Born cyclist who in 2010 broke the world record for riding from Lands End to John 'O' Groats and back again. He has also recently competed in the world 24 hour time trials and has several other cycling projects up his sleeve to talk about.

The evening will include a 2 course meal, raffle, auction and the main event of Bens' Talk.

Please support these great charities by buying a ticket (just £20.00) and spending an evening with 'Ben Rockett'

Details on the poster shown above.

Gold D of E supported Assessment

Dartmoor National Park is the venue for activities over the next few days. Gwilym offered the opportunity for me to finish off my D of E assessors qualification by supporting me to assess a group from Plymouth College on their Gold D of E. The weather on the moor last night was pretty foul, very high winds and driving rain but it eased today and visibility improved.

Open Canoe trip on the Bridgwater to Taunton Canal

Today I have been out with a group of 12 adults celebrating a 30th Birthday! The Group were staying at Somerset Yurts and contacted me to provide a guided trip along the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal. We met at Maunsel Lock Canal Centre on a pretty grim day weather wise! The group were in high spirits and enjoyed the paddle to the Boat and Anchor Pub for a late lunch.
I didn't manage to get any more images of the day due to the weather and a lack of a waterproof camera at present.

A Trip to Palm Equipment/Dagger HQ

After an early start at the Ropes Course in Vivary Park I travelled to the Palm Equipment HQ to collect three new Mad River Explorer Open Canoes fresh out of the moulds. Thanks to AS watersports in Exeter for organising the collection direct from Palm, saved me a lot of time. Now to fit the buoyancy blocks before tomorrows guided canoe trip.
